Strength for the way you live.
The mind and body are deeply connected, and caring for your physical wellbeing is an important part of caring for yourself as a whole.
My approach to personal training is centered around functional strength. Building the strength, stability and confidence you need to move well, function well and feel capable in your everyday life. Rather than focusing solely on performance or athleticism, training is designed to support the things your body needs to do both now and throughout your life.
Together, we'll work on movement patterns that translate beyond the gym: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, squatting, balancing and moving with greater control and confidence. Training is tailored to your current abilities, goals and experience, with an emphasis on progressing in a way that feels challenging, supportive and sustainable.
Ultimately, strength training isn't only about becoming stronger in the gym. It's about building a body that supports you in living, moving and functioning well for years to come.
What to Expect
How do I get started?
Getting started begins with reaching out to discuss what you're looking for from personal training. We'll talk briefly about your goals, current activity level and what you'd like to feel more confident doing. From there, we can determine whether Movement & Strength is a good fit and schedule your first session.
Do I need strength training experience?
Not at all. Training is designed to meet you where you are, whether you're completely new to strength training, returning to movement after time away or already have experience and want more structure and guidance.
Exercises can be adapted to your current abilities, and part of our work together is helping you develop confidence and become more comfortable with strength training over time.
What happens during the first session?
Your first session gives us an opportunity to understand how you currently move and where you'd like to go. We'll discuss your goals, training history, current activity and any factors that may influence your training.
We'll also work through some basic movements so I can better understand your current strength, mobility and movement patterns. From there, we'll begin developing an approach that is appropriate for you.
What does a typical training session include?
Sessions are centered around functional strength training and may include exercises that involve squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, carrying, core stability, balance and other movement patterns that support everyday function.
Your sessions will be tailored to your goals and abilities, with an emphasis on building strength progressively, learning good movement patterns and becoming more confident in what your body can do.
